Just Walk - Skye to Glasgow 2025
Donation protected
If you’re in a position to donate, we would really appreciate any support to help bring folk from indigenous territories across the world to join the walk for Land Justice from Skye to Glasgow, 17th September to 7th October 2025.
A walk for Land Justice to rekindle the spirit of resistance that stood against the forces of colonialism and capitalism that cleared communities from their land, and tried (as it still does) to break folk's culture and connectedness.
Rekindling a spirit of resistance to mend our cultures of connectedness, as we prepare to retake the land and remake our world in common kindness.
The walk will leave Broadford on Skye, Eilean Sgithanach, on the 17th of September, following a night of stories and songs with Daniel Cullen and Rhona Coogan, among others. We'll walk in solidarity with Sgiathanach's resisting corporate wind farms in their area, down to Armadale, and take the ferry to Mallaig and Knoydart. There we'll see the latest flowering of cultural resistance: highlights from 3 current plays about community land rights, and learn about the community ownership stories, including the Seven Men of Knoydart; a group of Land Raiders who tried to take back land in 1948 - and probably enjoy a pint or two in The Old Forge; now a community owned pub.
Over the next three days, we'll walk out of Knoydart to Glenfinnan, and after that down to the Coney Ferry, up Glencoe, join the West Highland Way, and march south to Glasgow via Carbeth - another triumph of community ownership!
You can sign up to the walk here
We'll be joined by storytellers and singers from Torry in Aberdeen, who are experiencing their own land struggles, as well as by the Red Flag Players, who will be performing from The Fire That Never Went Out. This performance tells the story of the Craigallian Fire, which burned for over 20 years in the 1920s and 30s, and was a meeting point for artists, intellectuals, singers, the unemployed and political activists who shared a passion for Land Justice.
We'd like to invite folk from indigenous territories across the world to join us, especially from places where Scotland has had some complicity. We believe there is a real opportunity to heal some of the traumas of colonialism through these exchanges. A contribution would support us being able to get folk here, as well as covering some of the costs of putting on talks and performances as we travel. We want to be able to welcome folk regardless of their financial status, so would like to create a travel bursary for folk travelling within these isles too.
